What is a Breast Uplift?

Commonly known as ‘mastopexy,’ breast uplift surgery focuses on restoring youthful contours by eliminating excess skin. This procedure addresses sagging or drooping breasts, often caused by the natural ageing process or the effects of pregnancy.

Why Choose Breast Uplift Surgery in Newcastle?

As time passes or after childbirth, it’s natural for breasts to lose their firmness and shape. The skin may stretch during pregnancy, resulting in inadequate support for breast tissue. A breast uplift not only removes excess skin but also reshapes the breasts, providing a more lifted appearance. Additionally, the surgery can reposition the nipples to a higher, more aesthetically pleasing level.

How is Breast Lift Surgery Performed?

Various breast uplift techniques involve different scar patterns. For individuals with larger breasts, a breast reduction may be recommended, simultaneously providing a lift. Those desiring increased breast size can opt for silicone implants alongside uplift surgery. During a personalised consultation, Mr Rob Thomas guides patients through the available options, ensuring a tailored approach to suit their unique aesthetic goals.

FAQs about breast uplift surgery in Newcastle

You will have dressings over the wounds which will stay in place for 2 weeks. You will be seen by one of the nurses at The Beverley Hospital week one following surgery to check everything is ok. At week two, the dressings should be removed and if all is well, no further dressings need to be reapplied. You can then start performing scar massage with a simple moisturiser which helps improve scar quality.

It is important your breasts are well supported following surgery. A post-surgical bra or ‘sports-type’ bra that fastens at the front is useful. Rob usually recommends that you wear this 24/7 for the first 3 weeks after surgery, then during the day for another 3 weeks. At 6 weeks, if you are comfortable enough, a wired bra can be worn.

All surgery carries some risks. The most common risks following breast uplift surgery are scarring, bleeding, infection and altered sensation. You may also find that your breasts change over time, particularly if they are larger. This is because the weight within the breast may cause repeat sagging in the future.

You can usually expect to see final results at between 2 and 3 months following breast uplift surgery.  Initially the breasts may feel quite tight, and sometimes too high. This will gradually settle as the breasts drop into their final position and the skin relaxes.

Yes this is. This is called an augmentation mastopexy where an implant is used under the breast or muscle and the breast lifted simultaneously. It is a more complicated procedure to get right than an uplift alone, and incurs additional cost. Rob will be able to discuss this with you in clinic.
